A Small Form-Factor prototyping LoRa ® board for the most common use cases including to develop and create Internet of things applications based on the SEMTECH LR1110 LoRa Edge ™. . A brand new module that provides outdoor and indoor location capabilities that combines LoRaCloud, Geolocation, Wi-Fi and GPS/GNSS and many more options.

Components

Ultra-low power platform that integrates a long range LoRa® transceiver, multi-constellation scanner and passive Wi-Fi AP MAC address scanner targeting asset management applications.

 

The LR1110 solution utilizes Semtech’s LoRa Cloud™ geolocation capabilities, to significantly reduce power consumption by determining asset location in a Cloud-based solver.

A low-power, high-performance Microchip’s ARM® Cortex®-M0+ based flash microcontroller, the ATSAMD21G18 is ideal for a wide range of home automation, consumer, metering, and industrial applications.

The LSM303AGR is an ultra-low-power high-performance system-in-package featuring a 3D digital linear acceleration sensor and a 3D digital magnetic sensor.

The LSM303AGR has linear acceleration full scales of ±2g/±4g/±8g/±16g and a magnetic field dynamic range of ±50 gauss.
The LSM303AGR includes an I2C serial bus interface that supports standard, fast mode, fast mode plus, and high-speed (100 kHz, 400 kHz, 1 MHz, and 3.4 MHz) and an SPI serial standard interface.
The system can be configured to generate an interrupt signal for free-fall, motion detection and magnetic field detection.
The magnetic and accelerometer blocks can be enabled or put into power-down mode separately.
The LSM303AGR is available in a plastic land grid array package (LGA) and is guaranteed to operate over an extended temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C.

The BME280 is a humidity sensor specially developed for mobile applications and wearables where size and low power consumption are key design parameters. The unit combines high linearity and high accuracy sensors and is perfectly feasible for low current consumption, long-term stability and high EMC robustness. The humidity sensor offers an extremely fast response time and therefore supports performance requirements for emerging applications such as context awareness, and high accuracy over a wide temperature range.

The MCP73831 from Microchip is a tiny 500mA linear charge management controller in 8 pin DFN package. It is highly advanced linear charge management controller for use in space limited, cost-sensitive applications. For applications charging from a USB port, the MCP73831 adhere to all the specifications governing the USB power bus. It employs a constant current/constant voltage charge algorithm with selectable preconditioning and charge termination. The constant voltage regulation is fixed with 4.2V, to accommodate new, emerging battery charging requirements. The constant current value is set with one external resistor. The MCP73831 device limit the charge current based on die temperature during high power or high ambient conditions. This thermal regulation optimizes the charge cycle time while maintaining device reliability.

Skylab – LoRa EDGE LR1110

The Skylab – SEMTECH LR1110 is based on the SEMTECH LoRa LR1110 Asset Management Platform: an Ultra-low-power platform that integrates a long-range LoRa® transceiver, multi-constellation GPS/GNNS scanner and passive Wi-Fi AP MAC address scanner targeting asset management applications. The LR1110 solution utilizes Semtech’s LoRa Cloud™ geolocation capabilities, to significantly reduce power consumption by determining asset location in a Cloud-based solver. This solution can provide an accurate indoor and outdoor location The SkyLab LR1110 is also equipped with the BME280 sensor, which has a low power Temperature, humidity, and barometric sensor. This sensor combines, low power consumption, great design and highly accurate sensors to create a high quality and long-lasting solution for temperature, humidity, and barometric solutions. In addition, The Prototyping board offers the LSM303AGR module, an ultra-low-power high-performance system-in-package featuring a 3D digital linear acceleration sensor and a 3D digital magnetic sensor. Besides all these great features the LR1110 also includes an MCP73831 charging controller with solar power capabilities perfect for projects without access to power on the device. The board has also been equipped with WeMos compatible pins which makes it possible to connect a lot of external boards and sensors with WeMos compatibility. For extra ease of use, the board also has a programmable RGB led and a Micro USB port for charging and programming the ATSAMD21G18 microcontroller
